Dog bites man….

So occasionally as part of my job I get to take pictures of inmate’s injuries. Usually this means a trip to the jail, 10 minutes worth of explaining to the guard behind the front desk why I want to bring a camera in to the jail, her calling her supervisor, 10 more minutes of explaining to the supervisor why I want to bring a camera in to the jail, you get the idea.

Anyway, today’s task was to take pictures of a guy who was bitten by a police dog. Mauled by a police dog was more like it. This guy had some serious chunks of flesh missing from his leg, it was pretty ridiculous. Without getting into why this particular person was an “inmate”, I can definitely say there was no reason for the police to call out the K-9 unit, but that’s not a surprise. Anyway, I felt pretty bad for the guy, because jail is the last place you want to be with an injury that requires any sort of medical attention. Thankfully the nurse had to unwrap it for me to take the pictures, so at least he got someone to look at it today…..although it can’t be a good sign when as soon as she unwraps it she says “I’m gonna go get the doctor so he can take a look at this…..”
